01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Atari gallery&cafe, the chicken mixed noodles let you choose the koji sauce. There are three options: classic soy-sauce koji, salt koji that brings out koji’s savoury flavour, and tomato koji, an unusual choice with a pasta-like character. The dish combines a sauce made with koji and dashi, whole-wheat noodles, reduced-pesticide vegetables and chicken breast marinated in salt koji. The menu notes that no chemical seasonings are used. One diner found the noodles’ chewy texture memorable. Mix the sauce through before eating, and, if you like, change the flavour partway through with vinegar or chilli oil from the table.

For a meal without animal-derived ingredients, there is also a spice curry made with soy meat. Finished with coconut milk, this plant-based curry comes with Yumepirika rice milled in-house. The listed lunch sets include a drink option and a set with banana juice, so you can choose a drink to go with either noodles or curry.

For a post-meal treat or a cafe stop, consider the rice-flour banana muffin and drink set. Described as gluten-free, the muffin is made without dairy or eggs, and you can choose coffee, tea, herbal tea or oolong tea. Art is exhibited inside, making this a place to drop in for a meal or take a break while looking at the work on display.
